Hearing Dogs for Deaf People was the ‘President’s Choice’ of charity this year. Here, Rotary in Harpenden President Claire Wright is pictured with Denise Newman and Liz Arendt from the charity, after handing them a cheque for £1,650.

Twenty-eight teams competed for the trophy in the 26th Quiz of Quizzes, held at St George’s School. By a six-point margin the Harpenden Lions Club triumphed, chalking up an 11th victory.

Working together, the medical authorities in Pakistan and Afghanistan are making great strides in vaccinating children against polio. Back to our normal slot at the end of July, the 28th Classics on the Common, organised by Rotary in Harpenden, drew crowds in their thousands to see a spectacular array of more than 1000 classic cars, scooters and motorbikes, including the largest vehicle we’ve ever had.
