When disasters such as the horrific earthquakes in Turkey and Syria occur Rotary in Harpenden is at the ready to respond.

We can dip into the disaster reserve fund we have established from the events we run to pay the cost and transportation expenses of ShelterBoxes. As illustrated here, these survival kits include a family-size tent, cooking utensils and other life essentials.

We have now sent two ShelterBoxes to Turkey and Syria. More may follow.

Meanwhile, our members, along with other community organisation members, have been at Harpenden Station, collecting donations from rail travellers. In two sessions one day they raised £1588 for the Turkey/Syrian victims.
