Young Photographer competition creates a buzz

Picture Perfect

There were some stunning local entries to the first round heat of the Rotary Young Photographer
Competition 2021, a national competition organised by Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland.
The theme for this years competition was: ‘WILD NATURE’

The Young Photographer competition, an annual event, is designed for Young People to
express themselves through the medium of photography by submitting three digital photos on
the theme for the year. It is open to students in full time education in three age groups;

  • Junior 7 – 10 years
  • Intermediate 11 – 13 years
  • Senior 14 – 17 years

The St Albans and Harpenden local heat this year was held in difficult circumstances during
lockdown conditions. Whilst a challenge, it did not deter our intrepid students from getting out with
their cameras. The standard was impressive. We were able to put a number of students through to
the next Regional District round and we wish them luck. The judges then went through all the entries
and have chosen the best overall photo in each of the three age categories and have awarded a
trophy to the winners.

Congratulations to our winners!
