The elements were against us for our two charity fundraising efforts. The drive-in film was shown in a downpour with thunder and lightning, and high winds kept people indoors when we ran a tombola on the Harpenden High Street concourse.

Together, the two events raised nearly £1,000, which John Murray, Rotary in Harpenden’s president, described as ‘a very good result, given the circumstances.’
