1.2 million members
32,000 clubs | 200 countries
The first Rotary Club was founded in 1905 when four friends met in Chicago to discuss how they could work together to help the wider community.
Today, Rotary is one of the world’s leading membership and humanitarian service organisations, with 1.2 million members in 32,000 clubs and in 200 counties the world over.
Through membership of their local club, individuals volunteer to help with community and humanitarian projects which make a difference locally, nationally and globally.
‘Service Above Self’
Rotary members are determined to tackle the world’s biggest issues, including promoting peace, fighting disease, supporting education and much more.
Rotary was formed as a networking organisation and this still plays a part in Rotary life today. Rotary provides the opportunity to expand personal and professional circles, meet new people and make lasting friendships, all while having fun in the process.
